Liverpool shot down

12 November 2006

The Gunners shot put up a brilliant display against Liverpool Football in the Emirate stadium. This can be categorised as our first win against serious opposition in our new home. Our previous home win has been against newcomers Watford and Sheffield United. We should not sit back and gloat though. Liverpools away record is almost as appalling as our away record was at the same stage of the Premiership last season with only one goal scored away from the penalty spot….

Until we can find a way to break down teams who defend massively anytime they are playing Arsenal, we have some serious problems. Our goals against Liverpool came from the three most unlikely sources, Flamini scoring the opener, Kolo Toure scoring a second and William Gallas making it safe with a third.

I noticed however that Thierry Henry was quite impressive when he was helping out in midfield or even pedalling back to help the defence. Maybe he just discovered a new role for himself because things have not been so easy for the French man in front of goal.
