Arsenal do Man U favour

6 May 2007

The Gunners held Chelsea to a draw at the Emirates to help Manchester United secure the Premiership title. Chelsea needed to win The Arsenal to keep up the title chase but their hopes came undone in the first half of the game. Gilberto beat Petr Cech from the penalty spot after Boularhouz had brought down the rampaging Beast Julio Baptista.

The Chelsea defender saw red from the referee as Chelsea were reduced to ten men. John Terry and his merry band of men put up a gallant performance and drew level from a Michael Essien header. This was not enough to secure them the needed three points though and Manchester United have claimed yet another League title.

I wonder if they will be ducked points by the league though for the underhand arrangement they had with Everton which saw Everton not playing American goalkeeper Tim Howard in their clash at Goodison Park two weeks ago. Man U won that match but are presently being probed.
