Arsenal v Man U: The task facing Arsenal

19 January 2007

Arsenal have won just one of their last premiership meetings with Manchester United. That was the win earlier this season courtesy of a late Emmanuel Adebayor in Old Trafford this season. We have scored just one goal in our last four clashes with Man United (same Adebayor goal; i hope we play him on sunday). Thierry Henry has scored seven goals in twelve premiership starts against United but has not scored in the last four against them.

United have won on just one of their last six visits to Arsenal (we hope to make it one in seven on sunday).

In the past five and a half seasons, the Gunners have lost four times to Alex Ferguson’s men but we should hopefully end that trend sunday.

United have conceded goals in nine of their last eleven games keeping only two clean sheets. They have also scored exactly three goals in four of their last five games.

Manchester United have more wins (8), more goals (23) and fewer goals conceded (8) than any other Premiership side away from their home ground this season.

The Gunners have scored 28 home goals this season. Only one team has scored more. Yes you guessed right - Manchester United.

On the positive side (regarded as negative by some people) The Gunners have gained more points from a losing position this season -11 points. Most of them where from a goal down in front of their home fans in The Emirates Stadium.
