Arsenal v Manchester United
19 January 2007The Gunners will be hosting premiership leaders Man United this sunday. Some people believe that the Gunners ambition to be league leaders this season is over. As real as this may be considering the facts and circumstances regarding our position in the league table, it will be a mistake to write off Arsenal as a force to be reckoned with in English football………………
This rematch between Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson is going to be very keenly contested. The Gunners stuttering start in this seasons premiership campaign seems to be a thing of the past. We have shown some grit and determination in recent games. We have seen off Blackburn United at home and away with a 10 man squad. Our exploits against the Anfield giants Liverpool, is still very fresh in our memories.
A point to remember is that despite our seamingly inability to make the Emirates stadium a cauldron of fire for visiting teams, we are stilll yet to lose a game in our new stadium.
This game will be explosive and quite open for any side to win. In the first meeting at Old Trafford, Manchester United’s Portuguese midfielder Ronaldo was very much kept quiet. If we successfully limit Ronaldo’s contributions in the game on sunday, the game is half won
Thierry Henry is very quickly regaining his old form and touch after recovering from his sciatica nerve problem which saw his contribution to the team dwindle earlier in the season but if his goal against Blackburn is anything to go by, the Gunners fans should be rest assured that our mecurial French talisman is back doing what he knows how to do best.
