Arsenal v Wigan fallout
13 February 2007Wigan manager Paul Jewell has been charged for improper conduct towards referee Phil Dowd by the English FA. The Latics manager accused Phil of swearing at his players during the match.
This accusation has been backed up by Wigan chairman Dave Whelan. Paul also accused Phil of costing his team three points by not awarding Wigan a penalty for the foul on Emile heskey by Mathieu Flamini.
The referees decision not to allow Josip Skoko back on the filed after he had to leave due to an injury he picked up also angered Paul Jewel. Jewell went as far as calling Phil dowd the worst referee in the Premiership during his post match comments and the FA is also investigating this.
The Wigan manager has until the 28th of February to respond to the FA’s charge.
