Carling Cup Final
25 February 2007Arsenal’s young Gunners lost to Chelsea FC’s tested professionals in the Carling Cup final played in The Millenium Stadium in Cardiff Wales by 2 goals to 1 in very controversial circumstances. The Arsenal went ahead from a goal by Theo Walcott who scored his very first goal for The Gunners.
His effort was cancelled by Didier Drogba’s right footed effort with a pass from Michael Ballack although Drogba was marginally offside. The Ivorien attacker put The Premiership Champions in front with a headed goal.
The game broke down into a free for all melee which resulted in Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor receiving red cards from the Arsenal side and John Mikel Obi picking up his second red of the season. Interestingly Cesc Fabregas picked up his second yellow of the evening but remained on the field.
