Champions League recommences

20 February 2007

The Gunners recommence their Champions League dream today when they play in Holland against PSV Eindhoven. Arsenal’s form in the Premiership may be suspect as they drop points against lowly rated teams but our Champions League form is much more consistent.

Last season, we got to the finals of the competition without losing a single game only to be beaten by Barcelona in the Finals by 2 goals to 1. This season, our only loss has been an away tie to CSKA Moscow who beat us by one goal to nil in the group stages.

CSKA subsequently did not progress to the knockout stages. The Champions League is a much safer place to predict goals and wins. The team from the Netherlands are not used to Arsenals style of play unlike our weekly Premiership opposition.

They may watch as many video tapes of our games as they want and try to devise as many game plans as they equally want. The outcome of this game is engraved in stone. 2-0 in favour of the team from London, Arsenal FC
