Disappointing Draw
4 February 2007Our very poor showing at the Riverside has really knocked the stuffing out of me. I really had lingering hopes that we would just be able to create a great footballing miracle and come from so far behind to put a good title fight for the 2006/2007 Premiership title but we have once again stumbled where we should show strenght. We have wobbled where we should show character. We have capitulated where we should show pedigree.
Our 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough at the Teesside is not encouraging at all. Let us really be honest with each other and be able to look each other in the face and come to terms with the harsh reality of the situation. We cannot boast of a title challenge with Manchester United and Chelsea so unrelentlessly gathering points and leaving every other team in their wake. We are a growing team and a team of the future. Let us try and secure a top four finish this season so we can hopefully play Champions League Football next season……
I hope we field our strongest teams in these competitions as we do not know where our trophies will be coming from this season. Wenger should borrow a leaf from Sir Alex who threw everything he had into the Carling Cup in the 2005/2006 season so that his club Man U would have at least one silverwar to boast of after a barren 2004/2005 season.
Yes I hope you all remember that we got no silverware last season. two season’s without a title will really be too much for The Arsenal faithfuls to stomach.
