Robin van Pierse’s metartasal

26 January 2007

That word metartasal is fast becoming the most rampant injury for footballers. The Gunners will have to continue their belated push for this seasons Premiership title without Robin van Pierse who is out for up to ten weeks with a broken metartasal.

This unfortunate turn of events hands a lifeline to Jeremie Aladiere who is Arsenal’s second longest serving player to end his injury-ravaged spell in the colours of The Gunners. Julio Baptista will also see his Premiership starts go up significantly as we hope that he brings his dazzling Carling Cup heroics into the Premiership.

This spells bad news for Arsenal’s rivals in the English football because these are two very hungry young players. I hope Julio Baptista features in our FA Cup match against Bolton.

We need physically strong players who will be able to match Bolton man for man. The men from the Reebok Stadium have been our Achilles Heels in recent fixtures.
